Are You a Survivor or Supporter?
by Julie Lancaster View Bio
3-years free-and-clear-hallelujah. I just had my check-up for being cancer-free. When I walk in the office each year for the annual MRI, ultrasound & mammogram, I am reminded to do a full stop in my life. I come face to face with the fragility of it all. My gratitude overwhelms me to tears. I think of the other warriors who have been on this cancer journey before or after me, holding my hand and letting me hold theirs.
Years ago, when I walked into a yoga class as cancer support, they asked me “Are you a survivor or supporter?”. This question stopped me in my tracks and had me recognize that I now wore a new identity: survivor. That also brought me to tears.
Today, I can say that I am both: survivor and supporter. In coaching & training rooms, I am honored to be in the presence of warriors overcoming deep challenges, who share tears, who are transforming, who demonstrate bravery, gratitude, and heart.
Thank you to each of you in this community. It is my greatest honor to serve you.
With gratitude – Julie
