Book Birthing: Origin Story & Book Release Party (November 18)

2 things happened at once.
I was in the midst selecting the editor for a book I’ve been writing through Amplify Publishing about how people can increase their leadership impact through short-form story telling. It’s my hardest won leadership skill. In my family, we were often onto the next thing & were moving quickly. It’s filled with tons of my own stories & teaches a method for people to bring their stories to life when communicating about leadership.
At the same time, Lancaster Leadership was providing a lot of resilience programming. Coming out of Covid, it seemed to be a really important topic. I had bought a few hundred copies of The 5 Practices of Highly Resilient People: Why Some Flourish When Others Fold; it was the best resilience book out there that made sense in a work environment. One day I got an email from the author, Dr. Taryn Marie Stejskal, asking for us to meet on Zoom. I was terrified; for some reason, I thought she was going to be mad. Oh to the contrary. She was delighted and wanted to know what kind of work I was up to and talked about how we might be able to collaborate. I was on cloud nine to now be buddies with the “#1 International Resilience, Mental Health, & Wellbeing Expert.”
Exactly seven weeks later, I was getting the first round of edits from my editor and I got an email from Dr. Taryn, she was the resilience author. She was creating a compilation book, Triumphs of Transformation. “We just had our 30th author need to bow out of the community due to medical reasons, so a seat has unexpectedly opened up, as luck would have it! I thought that given your focus and expertise on resilience, along with the opportunity to contribute to this amazing community and get to amplify the visibility of your work might be an amazing opportunity for you!”
It was one of those moments where I jumped up and down and made weird little noises for a good three minutes. I am beyond thrilled to invite you to the Book Release Party at Bright Side Bookshop on Monday, November 18 at 6pm (get your ticket here & also buy a discounted book for me to sign) We are having book release/signing parties around the country and I am hosting Arizona. 6pm-7pm Resilience talk, reading & Q&A. 7pm Signing.
I would be so honored; will you join me?
Can’t come but still want to order the book? Order here before November 11. 😊
SPEAKING SCOTTISH
Trekking the Scottish Highlands was an adventure. From stunning lochs and cozy pubs to delicious haggis and the company of fellow travelers, every day brought new delights. As I prepared for another day on the trail, I couldn’t help but appreciate the simple pleasures of a good sandwich and a beautiful view.
