Carol Curtis has been the Director of the Coconino County Career Center through 4 workforce Acts of Congress. These federal Acts provide funding for workforce, economic development and education programs in the County. A new Act that represents an innovative change in direction for workforce development was approved by Congress and must be ready for implementation on July 1, 2015. The collaborative work required to gear up for a monumental shift in focus is always strengthened by a thread of love and commitment that engages staff, and partners, in realizing the end goals of new Legislation. Loving what you do propels a team to achieve results that make a meaningful difference. This orientation for success explains why the Career Center was recognized as the highest performing Workforce Investment Act program in Arizona this February.
Director Curtis was named the Workforce Developer of the Year in 2011 by the Arizona Association of Economic Developers in recognition of the success of local collaborations that leverage dollars, resources and the power of teamwork for the region. Carol Curtis is always up for a challenge for the right reasons. She has loved living, working, playing and raising a family in Flagstaff since graduating from NAU.
