The Delight is in the Details

After 25 years together, we went to happy hour and had nothing to talk about. It seemed that we had discussed everything there was to discuss, planned everything that needed planning, and had become quite unpracticed at introducing new and interesting topics to each other. In the heart of Mexico City, we had just ordered some expensive purple lemonade fancy drinks, and had 59 more minutes to fill.

“We know all the big things in each other’s lives, but probably not the details.  How do you do breakfast?” I ask.

“What do you mean, exactly?” he says.

“Well, you wake up every work morning 2 hours before I do, and I have no idea how you really spend that time.  Teach me, and go slow.”

And the magic happens.  He tells me about the rotating meals that he makes for himself, and how luxurious they are.  And how his selection changes every few months.  And which foods he likes to pair together. And how he reads the news in actual paper form after he walks the dog in the dark.

It was so interesting and the questions and laughter and sharing of each of our peculiarities started to flow. Before we knew it, we were almost late for the Lucha Libre fight because we were so delighted to lean into the details.

Each month our boutique-sized team of facilitators create moments, hopefully of transformation that will be remembered for years, behind closed doors.  I thought it might be interesting to share with you the specific programs we have been leading this month.  I’d love to hear about some of your details.     Best, Julie
